(YALE) — The suspension of a small-town Michigan police chief for failing to wear a bulletproof vest has been rescinded. Yale Mayor Richard Busch called off the suspension of Michael Redman. Busch says Redman has been complying with his request to wear the vest on duty. Redman was suspended without pay from August 22 until this week. Along with ending the suspension, Busch directed that Redman be paid for the time off. City officials say Busch also replaced the suspension documentation with a written warning in his file. Busch says Redman doesn’t agree with that decision. Redman declined comment about the developments, but previously said he wore the vest when he believed it was prudent and he had never been disciplined during decades of work.
