(PORT SANILAC) — An autopsy that was performed Tuesday afternoon determined that a Port Sanilac man died of a medical event sometime Sunday in the 2500 block of Wheeler Road.
Sanilac County Sheriff’s deputies were called after it was reported that a vehicle had veered off the roadway and came to rest against a tree. Moore Township firefighters arrived on the scene and gained entry to the van owned by Sheldon Medical Supply and found that the lone occupant was deceased. He was identified as 50-year old Robert Guizar of Port Sanilac.
Investigation by the Sheriff’s department revealed that the van was southbound on Wheeler Road when it left the roadway and entered a hay field. The vehicle traveled about a quarter of a mile through the field before coming to rest against the tree.The autopsy determined that a medical event caused Guizar to become incapacitated, causing the accident.
