UPDATE – Nov. 7 – (Fort Gratiot Township) – The St Clair St. Clair County Health Department identified a case of Hepatitis A exposure at a Port Huron area facility last week. While the FDA has been conducting a nationwide investigation into possible contamination of frozen strawberries, St Clair County officials confirmed a potential exposure at Medilodge of Port Huron in Fort Gratiot township. The recalled strawberries were distributed for sale and use in food service establishments offered for retail sale and consumers. Health Department officials are working with facility staff to begin preventative measures including vaccinations for those at highest risk. Late last week, other cases were suspected in Huron, Lapeer, Macomb and Genesee counties. That list was updated Monday morning to include one case in Huron County, four in Genesee and the St. Clair County case. Hepatitis A can range in severity from a mild illness to a severe illness lasting several weeks.
