(Brooklyn, Mich.) – Area cross country runners traveled to the state finals Saturday at the Michigan International Speedway, competing with top runners from across the state. Ubly’s Alex Grifka had a great day placing 4th in the boys Division 4 race while Haili Gusa of Ubly was 14th in the girls race. In Division 3, Sandusky was led by Brandon Hughes who finished in 17:11 while teammate Colton Cowley turned in a time of 17:30 and Jared Coon had a 19:33. Brown City was led by Brady Kaufman in the boys race with a 18:14 and Whitley Blake finished in 20:53 in the girls race. Freshman Riley Ford of Marlette covered the course in 20:31 and Sandusky’s Crystal Tovar had a 22:14.
