Sanilac County farmers recognized

(Sanilac County) – The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development’s Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program (MAEAP) has recognized three farms in Sanilac County for implementing appropriate pollution prevention practices. The program assists farmers to comply with state and federal environmental regulations and with Right to Farm practices. Technical assistance was provided by the Sanilac Conservation District. The program recognized Gordon Farms, of Croswell, as a verified farm in the Farmstead System, Phillips Farm, of Marlette, as a verified farm in the Cropping System and Dorman Farms, of Snover, as a verified farm in the Forest, Wetlands, and Habitat System. Ag Director Jamie Clover Adams said, “By taking the steps necessary to become an environmentally verified operation, these Sanilac County farms have contributed to the assurance of sustainable farming practices.”
