Lapeer County election results

(Lapeer County) – Over 47,000 of nearly 67,000 registered voters in Lapeer County went to the polls yesterday and much like other area counties, they supported President-Elect Donald Trump over Hillary Clinton by a margin of 30,307 to 12,734. In the race for the 10th District, Paul Mitchell won by nearly a 3-1 margin collecting nearly 30,000 votes. While the Board of Commissioner seats were all unopposed, a county-wide EMS proposal passed by a narrow margin, with 21,706 yes votes to 20,174 no votes. A county Veterans millage request passed by a count of 33,047 to 8,737. In Goodland Township, voters rejected an Ordinance Enforcement request 248 yes to 651 no. There were two school issues in Lapeer County, one in Imlay City where voters rejected a building and sinking fund request by a count of 2,576 to 2,730 and in North Branch, yes voters narrowly approved an operating millage request 2,686 to 2,473.

A large number of voters went to the polls Tuesday. Turnout was reported to be over 50% at many precincts.
