(Lapeer County) – Formal charges have been filed by the Lapeer County Prosecutor’s office regarding the discovery of a dismembered body in Elba Township last week. 36-year old Rodney Tureaud of Flint was arraigned in the 71-A District Court of Lapeer Saturday on charges of Disinterment and Mutilation of a dead body a, 10-year felony; Tampering with Evidence, a 4-year felony and being a habitual offender.
Bond was set at $1,000,000. Tureaud remains incarcerated in the Lapeer County Jail and will have a court appearance later this month. Police discovered the body of 37-year old Amy Kagen, of Flint in a shallow grave late last week. An autopsy was performed Saturday but results are not expected for a few more weeks.
The case remains under investigation by the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office.
