Sandusky) – The Sanilac County Board of Commissioners moved the formation of a new airport zoning board one step closer by approving an Airport Hazard area at their regular meeting Tuesday afternoon. A number of county representatives were in attendance to voice opinions on the issue.
Marlette Township Supervisor Kirk Dale said he was concerned of the formation of the new board, feeling unqualified people would be on the board. Dale said, “that board should be flooded with people from Marlette and Sandusky airport. Not people from other parts of the county.”
In the plan, the Airport Zoning Board would be comprised of one member from each of the five Commissioners’ districts, a member of the Planning Commission and a Board of Commission member.
An ordinance, if approved, would limit the height of tall structures within a six to ten mile radius of Sandusky Airport and Marlette Airport.
