(Sandusky) – The new Emergency Operations Center on Dawson St. was host to the Sanilac County Board of Commissioners meeting Tuesday afternoon. The facility is nearing completion and will house Central Dispatch, Emergency Management, Buildings and Grounds and Sheriff department special services.
Following their meeting, Commissioners were given a tour of the facility which was renovated at a cost of just over $1 million dollars. Sanilac County Emergency Management Director Todd Hillman said plans are underway to move Central Dispatch into their new facility within the new few weeks.
Hillman said, “It should be a seamless move. We are working on radio towers now and have the move ready to go. There will be no disruption in dispatch services.”
While there is new flooring throughout the newly renovated facility, County Administrator Kathy Dorman said much of the equipment previously being used is making the move to the Dawson St. facility in an effort to save money. She also noted no general fund money was used to fund the improvements.
