In games played Wednesday night, the Elkton-Pigeon Bay Port Lakers had 13 points from Brenna Wissner to beat Harbor Beach Wednesday night by a final score of 54-44. Brady Kirsch had 13 points for the Pirates. In other boy’s scores, it was Memphis 61, Merritt Academy 45, Ubly 53, Kinde-North Huron 7, Vassar 58, Saginaw Arts and Science 28, Yale 61, Marine City 33.
In girls play, it was Kinde-North Huron 58, Akron-Fairgrove 24, Marysville 64, Center Line 50 and Saginaw Arts and Science slipped past Vassar 25-24.
Area games on the schedule for Thursday night include; Peck at Kingston, C-PS travels to Deckerville, North Huron is at Mayville, Bridgeport will be at North Branch and St. Clair visits Port Huron Northern. On the girls side; Memphis pays a visit to the Mark S Hund gymnasium to take on Sandusky, Harbor Beach is at Brown City in a key GTC-East showdown that can be heard on 97.7 WTGV with pregame at 7 p.m., Ubly is at Marlette, Cass City is at Laker, Vassar goes to Bad Axe, Reese takes on USA and Port Huron High is at Utica.
Not to be left out, we’ll also give a shout out to area high school bowling teams who kick-off their season with matches at five sites this afternoon in the Upper Thumb Bowling Conference. USA takes on Harbor Beach, Reese battles Bad Axe, Brown City and Sandusky go head to head at Holly Meadows lanes in Capac.
Carsonville-Port Sanilac hosts Ubly at Liberty Lanes in Sandusky and Cass City entertains North Huron. The Redskin bowling teams have enjoyed good success in past years and hope to continue that this year. They will host the Conference Singles tournament later next month.
