The Village of Lexington is seeking a new police chief and until one is hired, village officials have decided to hire an interim administrative person to replace Ed Jarosz who retired at the end of last year. The interim, considered to be an independent contractor, will earn $25 per hour and work 32 hours a week with no benefits. The successful candidate will provide services to the general operation of the village’s police department and the contract will be terminated, once a permanent chief is selected. It is believed the hiring process will take several weeks.
The new interim will be in charge of scheduling officers, training and supervising officers and submitting police reports. Village officials anticipate the interim position will cost them around $10,000.
