A 25-year old man from Mexico is facing deportation proceedings following a one-vehicle accident in Bloomfield Township in Huron County. According to Sheriff Kelly Hanson, deputies investigated a report of an accident early Sunday morning in the area of Kinde Road and Tinsley Road. Police found a 1997 Ford pickup hidden behind a barn at a large dairy farm in Huron Township.
Authorities made contact with a farm employee and learned that he was the sole occupant and was injured in the 2 a.m. accident. Deputies said the man was southbound on Tinsey Rd. near Kinde Rd and fell asleep, running a stop sign and going into a ditch.
Hanson said the unregistered and uninsured vehicle was removed and placed behind the barn where it was later found by deputies. The driver was taken into custody and transported to the Huron Medical Center. He was later turned over to agents of the United States Border Patrol for deportation proceedings.
Criminal charges will are pending, based on the outcome of deportation proceedings.
