25-year old Andrew Kautz of Deckerville passed away as a result of injuries in a pickup accident.

(Argyle Twp.) – One of the two men injured in a one vehicle rollover accident New Year’s Day passed away Saturday as a result of his injuries. The two area men were injured in a one vehicle rollover on Frieburger Road when a pickup truck left the roadway and rolled over into a field.  Police had originally believed the driver of the truck was the deceased, 25-year old Andrew Kautz of Deckerville.
However, Sanilac County Undersheriff Brad Roff said this morning the incident is still an open investigation and they cannot confirm who was driving. Deputies were called to the McKenzie Healthcare after two people were being treated as a result of the accident.
The victims had been transported from the scene in Argyle Township by private vehicle. Roff confirmed the injured were taken to the hospital, but not at the same time. Kautz was ejected when the vehicle rolled over.
A 22-year old male from Sandusky also sustained injuries in the crash. Kautz was later airlifted to Covenant Hospital in Saginaw for further treatment.
Police said alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the accident and it does not appear seatbelts were worn.
