Airboat rescue discovers two lost men

(Tuscola County) – Tuesday evening, the Tuscola County Sheriff Department was notified of a report of two lost fishermen on Saginaw Bay. The two men had walked about a mile out from Vanderbilt Park when it became dark and foggy and they could no longer see the shore. Police said the men had no compass or other means to find shore so they called 911.
An airboat, jointly owned by Huron and Tuscola County, was called in to aid in the search. Deputies found the fisherman at around 8:53pm, about one mile off shore. The Coast Guard had also been notified and had just arrived with their airboat when the subjects were found.
The fisherman were a 63-year old Essexville man and a 37-year old man from Bay City. Neither man was injured.
