Kathy Berden, of Snover, and her husband Dean, recently returned home from their memorable trip to Washing D.C. for the Presidential Inauguration. The experience is one they won’t soon forget. Berden said they enjoyed two gala balls, one at the Freedom Ball where more than 20,000 people attended by invitation only and the other was a Michigan ball where they knew pretty much everyone. The Berdens’ spent a week in Washington, taking in several events. Kathy was selected to give the seconding speech in the nomination of Ronna Romney McDaniel and had the opportunity to take in some of the sites while on the trip.

She said her husband noticed the security throughout the area, including multiple layers of helicopters hovering above the Inauguration where Donald Trump was sworn in as the nation’s 45th President. Although it made for a very long day, both the Berdens agreed, it was well worth it and an experience of a life time. Kathy said security was extremely tight and they had to go through two stages of gaining secured access to the Inauguration.

They sat just 200 feet away from the stage where President Trump was sworn in to office. The state’s Republican Chairwoman said if given the opportunity again, she’d enjoy taking in another inauguration in the future. In the meantime, she is just happy to be back home in Sanilac County.
