Recall of Yale Mayor moving forward

(Port Huron) – After approval was given on the wording of a recall petition Monday, efforts are proceeding in what some hope is the recall of Yale Mayor Richard Busch. Busch has been the target of a handful of city residents who want him removed from office for suspending Police Chief Michael Redman. Busch had suspended the chief for not wearing a bullet proof vest last August. St. Clair County Clerk Jay DeBoyer confirmed the wording had received approval from a panel of election officials.
DeBoyer said the language is valid 180 days from Monday, and once petitioner, and city resident, Douglas Clyne starts collecting signatures, he has two months to complete the process. The mayor has 10 days to appeal the commission’s decision.
The mayor said he is considering his options to appeal the decision, because the recall language did not specify the suspension was lifted, when Redman complied with the Mayor’s direction.
