County employees discuss healthcare coverage

Sanilac County employees met Wednesday with Administrator Kathy Dorman to look at healthcare benefits and what, if any changes could be made to overages for the upcoming fiscal year. Dorman said a group of 152 employees and their dependents, 371 people in all, covered by Priority Healthcare could also be missing out on a rewards program that could earn them cash cards.
Dorman said there has been an unusually large number of claims in the past six months of coverage with Priority Health, totaling $986,000 dollars. That total is higher than the previous span of 12 months with their former health care provider.
Dorman said she didn’t know how, or if, the large increase would impact future premiums.
