A new GIS mapping system is coming soon to Imlay City, after commission members gave their approval for the update. The commission approved $100,000 dollars for the software program that will allow city officials to more easily and efficiently see where water lines and shut-offs are located. Imlay City officials said the new system will better allow DPW workers to plan maintenance projects.
The state has mandated that all municipalities have a water management in place by next year. The commission approved a $72,000 dollar bid from The Spicer Group to map the system and another $19,500 dollars to Stand Tech to conduct a rate study for the city.
