Seasonal weight restriction have been posted in several counties around the Thumb area including Tuscola County, beginning last weekend. Weight restrictions are imposed when freeze-thaw cycles can make the road bed beneath asphalt more susceptible to damage. Sanilac County Road Commissioners gave their staff approval to place weight limits on county roads as they deemed necessary.
Monday morning, Sanilac Road Commission put out a notice they will be posting load, speed and weight restrictions Saturday morning. Lapeer County Road Commission put their weight restrictions in place for All Season roads and Class A routes Monday morning.
