Detroit Edison’s largest solar farm in Michigan is nestled just west of Lapeer, all 200,000 panels, that when fully on line will produce power for 9,000 homes. Visible from I-69, the solar farm is among the largest in the eastern United States, according to DTE officials. The solar farms are becoming more popular with several companies investigating opportunities in the Thumb region.
DTE officials said between their solar and wind farms, when all are functional, it produces enough energy for more than 450,000 homes.
