Councilman resigns; Positions open in Yale

(Yale) – The City of Yale continues to endure political battles. At a special meeting Monday, City Councilman Scott Gill gathered his things and promptly resigned his position on council, following a lengthy discussion about his wife working in the front office and other issues. The debate had been going on for the past several weeks. Gill, and his wife, Robyn, both resigned their positions with the City during the special session and left the meeting.
The action comes on the heels of council not renewing the contract of Police Chief Michael Redman earlier this year.
In other news, with the positions of Mayor, Treasurer, Clerk and three, four-year terms up for election – just Mayor Richard Busch and Treasurer Paul Williams have filed to run in the election.
With no need for a August Primary, anyone wishing to run for the vacant positions must now do so by filing as an Independent or a Write-In candidate.
