Bad Axe man arraigned on charges of leaving scene of an accident

Police investigate possible illegal drugs.

 
(Huron County) – Following a fatal accident early Friday morning, a 21-year old Bad Axe man was arraigned Friday afternoon on two counts of failure to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in serious impairment or death. Nathan Lesoski was charged following the accident in Colfax Township and could be facing further charges. The charges resulted from the death of 38-year old Sheila Peruski of Bad Axe and the serious injuries to 21-year old Cassandra Herron of Harbor Beach who were struck by a vehicle while walking on M-53 near Bad Axe.
Police alleged Lesoski, who was arrested later the same day near Ubly, was the driver of the vehicle that struck the victims and left the scene.
As a result of two search warrants being executed later Friday, 12 marijuana plants, drug paraphernalia, and a cell phone were seized.Huron County officials said further charges were possible as a result of the execution of the search warrants.
