Slowly but surely, school districts in Sanilac County are filling their needs for top Administrators. Recently, Croswell-Lexington and Sandusky hired new Superintendents and Deckerville is in the midst of their hiring process.
Brown City, following the resignation of Douglas Muxlow, has accepted applications from within their staff and will decide how to proceed.
By the time the dust settles, at least four of the county’s seven school districts will have hired new Superintendents prior to the start of the 2017-2018 school year.
The Deckerville school board will interview two more candidates Wednesday evening in their search for their next superintendent.
Charles Andrews of Michigan Legislative Institute said Tuesday night’s interviews went well and following two more Wednesday night, the board will most likely narrow the field to two candidates.
Among the four candidates interviewed for the Deckerville position is Levy (Jeff) Terpenning, formerly from the Deckerville area. He is currently Principal at Hillsdale Public Schools.
Second round interviews, including site visits, will be held next week.
The board plans to have their new superintendent under contract by the end of the month, according to Andrews.
