Fire department retrieves mother and son

Lexington fire department assisted the DNR officer with retrieving a small paddle boat with an adult and a child from Lake Huron last weekend. According to rescue crews, the duo were blown out into the lake too far and couldn’t get back to shore. Firemen used their rescue fire boat to reach the mother and son, learning the mother did not have a life jacket, but her son did. Fire officials said the incident was not the first time firemen rescued the family members this year, in similar situations. Earlier in the day, Lexington fire was called for 2 other people in the water with small rafts and no life jackets, approximately 1 mile out from shore. Thanks to a quick response the 16 and 17 year old victims were rescued without injury.
