Some outstanding police work, with a different kind of twist, was reported to the Lapeer County Board of Commissioners at their last meeting. Sheriff Scott McKenna told Commissioners Deputy Mike Tappen and a reserve deputy recently performed several acts of kindness on I-69 that go far and above the call of duty. Several motorists had become stranded with flat tires after hitting debris on the highway. Deputy Tappen and the reserve deputy stopped and changed tires for all four vehicles to get them on their way. Sheriff McKenna lauded his deputy’s efforts and said it was just one more way his deputies assist the public.
