A public hearing for the proposed Sanilac East Fire Authority has been set for August 3rd at 7:30 p.m. at Bark Shanty in Port Sanilac. Officials from the Village of Port Sanilac and the townships of Forester and Sanilac have been working for over a year to iron out details of the Authority. Shrinking budgets and the need for new fire equipment have been at the center of discussions. Pending a favorable response from all involved, the fire authority could be in operation by early fall.
