Scams and hackers have become as common as our daily routines and no one is exempt, not even hospitals. Earlier this month, Caro Community Hospital fell victim to a hack involving ransomeware, where patient information could have been jeopardized. However, hospital officials said no patient information was breeched. In the hack, unidentified people hack into a secured information system, encrypt private information, and hold it ransom to the real owner for money. Another Tuscola County hospital, Hills & Dales General Hospital, did not report any occurences of hacking.
