Sanilac County townships consider grow operations

Marion Township officials are considering a request that has been met by concern from many residents throughout the area and has been the source of spirited meetings.
Bretton Jones wants to launch a 12-acre, $2 million medicinal marijuana farm in Marion Township, but needs the township to pass an ordinance allowing him to proceed.
Jones says the plan would include about 1,500 marijuana plants and generate more than 40 jobs.
Along with the proposed farm, Jones is also looking to open medical marijuana dispensaries in Worth and Lexington Townships and will be at the Worth Township meeting Wednesday to speak to the board, and on Thursday in Lexington Township.
The meeting at Worth Township begins at 6:30 p.m.
