Traffic study done in Sanilac County; Signage planned

The Sanilac County Road Commission had two traffic studies done on county roads this summer, to determine what, if any, improvements needed to be made at the busy intersections.
Todd Road and Galbraith Line in Fremont Township was studied in late July and was found to have 85 percent of the traffic traveling 62 mph or faster on Galbraith.
An average of 700 cars pass through the intersection daily. Average speeds were slower at the intersection of Germania and Snover Roads where an average of 350 vehicles cross the intersection at speeds of 58 mph or higher.
Recommendations of additional signage on Galbraith Line and Snover Road, along with the installation of a streetlight at the Snover Road intersection, were approved.
In other Road Commission news; Bridge repair work on Mills Road in Sanilac County’s northern Wheatland Township is still about 45 days from completion, according to Road Commission Engineer Robb Falls.
The $600,000 dollar project will see decking poured this week with work expected to be done by the end of October. Falls reported to Road Commissioners Tuesday morning that the million dollar paving project on Old 51 from Carsonville to Croswell has been pushed back and will not begin until the first week of October.
The Marlette Road bridge project, just east of M-19 is finished with the exception of minor work and was re-opened to traffic late last week.
