Nine arrested; 1 sought in assaults and drug case

Police investigate assault – theft of drugs

 
(ST. CLAIR COUNTY) – Alleged marijuana thefts resulted in two men being sent to an area hospital and nine others being arrested. A 10th person is sought by the St. Clair County Sheriff Department for questioning.
Investigators said a man was assaulted by several subjects on North River Road in Fort Gratiot October 8th. The victim sustained injuries, but was able to escape the attack and was hospitalized.
Police said four people were arrested on charges of unarmed robbery. They said the victim and three of the suspects had allegedly stolen marijuana from other people. The beating victim was assaulted after he tried to take all the stolen drugs for himself.
Two days later, On October 10th, one of the suspects in the beating was himself assaulted and held against his will on Hewitt Road in Greenwood Township. Police say his captors were people from whom the four had allegedly stolen medical marijuana.
That victim was able to escape October 11th. A search warrant was executed and five people were arrested in the Greenwood incident, facing multiple charges including torture.The victim is facing criminal charges for the October 8th assault.
The sheriff department is asking the public for help in finding Frankie Suratt, 47, who has a warrant for two counts of torture, two counts of unlawful imprisonment, felonious assault and felony firearms related to the Greenwood case.
