A three-alarm blaze claimed the life of a 65-year old Elmer Township resident
The Michigan State Fire Marshall has been called in to assist in the investigation of a fatal fire Monday afternoon in 2000 block of West Applegate Road in Sanilac County’s Elmer Township. Marlette fire department responded to the scene, with an assist from Sandusky and Moore Township.
According to Sanilac County Detective-Sargent Nate Smith the 65-year-old homeowner was found dead outside the home that was fully engulfed when firefighters arrived. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of death of the victim later this week.
The fire remains under investigation.
