Imlay City’s Gateway Median project continues to be in the news, following approval by the city commission to purchase decorative lighting from Detroit Edison for the project. The $200,000 project will utilize the seldom-used center-turn lane of M-53, turning it in to a 10 to 12-foot wide grassy median welcoming travelers to Imlay City. City officials are still hoping to be able to bid the project out for spring construction. Six new LED lights will be placed on the new median that will stretch from just north of I-69 to Newark Road.
