The Lapeer area continues to be a hot-bed for potential solar farms with future investments being considered. DTE officials have said they are planning future solar farms, along with the one in operation along I-69, west of Lapeer. Another development company is also reportedly looking at a parcel of land in the Lapeer area that would accommodate a more than $2 million dollar project. Areas in northern Lapeer County have been considered for wind turbine projects, although those proposals have been met with strong resistance from some county residents.
