Humane Society Take Over in St. Clair County

St. Clair County officials may soon consider an outside agency’s offer to take over operations at Animal Control. The county first put a request for proposals last fall and received two letters of interest, but no official bids. One of those responses came from the Sanilac County Humane Society. Since then, county officials have talked with the Sanilac group after receiving a proposal in February. According to the proposal, the humane society is asking for a service term of five years and would receive a base compensation of about $268,000 with annual increases based on any increases in local taxable values.
