A Bavarian-themed welcome sign greets visitors to Frankenmuth, following completion of a nearly $1 million archway. The steel and concrete archway that crosses M-83 has towers nearly 30 feet talland an archway measuring 160 feet wide and in 8-foot-tall red letters reads the word “Willkommen,” the german word for “Welcome.” Frankenmuth Downtown Development Authority officials said the $918,000 project is entirely funded by the Palmer Foundation through the Frankenmuth Community Foundation.
