Following action by the North Branch school board, the school district will now have an armed guard on campus. At their meeting last week, the board agreed to hire an outside security company to provide an armed guard through the rest of the school year. The added security began Wednesday at 6:45 a.m., prior to the start of classes in the high school. The move comes in the wake of a deadly shooting in Florida. since that time, a number of schools throughout the Thumb region have added security measures, including armed guards.
