A Bad Axe man sustained injuries after an afternoon of grilling resulted in an explosion Monday. According to police, the man had ignited a gas grill and was unaware of a gas leak that caused the grill to explode and starting a fire on the side of an apartment building on South VanDyke Road. Police used a fire extinguisher to slow the fire down until firemen arrived around 3 p.m. Brian Phillips suffered hand, face and arm burns and was transported to Huron Medical Center for treatment.
