Man arrested after burning vehicle

A Marlette man was arrested over the weekend

A 46-year-old Marlette man is facing multiple charges after an incident in the early hours of Saturday morning. According to Sanilac County Sheriff Deputies, the man had gone to the home of his ex-girlfriend, a 34-year-old Minden City woman around 1:00am and began pounding on her door and throwing objects at her window. When deputies arrived they found the woman’s van had been set on fire and the suspect was gone.
Police extinguished the fire using a fire extinguisher. A short time later deputies spotted the suspect’s vehicle and after a short chase the suspect pulled over near the intersection of Ruth Road and Bay City Forestville Road. Police say the suspect was intoxicated and did not have permission to be driving the vehicle.
Police also located an unloaded firearm and ammunition in the vehicle. The suspect is facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges.
In addition he was on parole in Sanilac County and out on bond from charges in another nearby county.
