Two homes in the Lapeer County community of Columbiaville were extensively damaged by fire in the past week. Last Wednesday, Columbiaville firefighters responded to a home on Lapeer St. around midnight and found a home fully engulfed. The home was occupied, but the occupant was able to escape the flames. Otter Lake fire department assisted on the call. Sunday evening around 10 p.m. Columbiaville firefighters, with an assist from Lapeer Fire 7 Rescue, responded to a home on Huron Trail and found flames through the roof. Three occupants were able to escape the fire. No injuries were reported.
