The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office continues their investigation of a fatal traffic accident Wednesday evening involving a dirt bike striking a deer on Ridge Road, between Custer and Snover Roads in Sanilac Township. The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Benjamin Maxfield from the Sandusky area. Maxfield struck the deer on his 2017 Yamaha dirt bike, sliding a distance on the gravel road before being ejected. Inverstigators said he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
