Area fire departments and Sanilac Central Dispatch were swamped with calls during Friday’s wind storm. Sanilac County Emergency Management Director Todd Hillman said county wide, there were over 70 calls for assistance as a result of the storm while Sandusky fire department responded to nine calls. Trees were toppled in the strong winds, knocking down power lines throughout the county. Hillman said most of the county had power restored late in the weekend, although there were still reports of spotty outtages as of Monday morning.
