Suspect arrested in St. Clair County thefts; may be connected to Sandusky heists

Police investigate thefts

St. Clair County sheriff’s deputies arrested a suspect in multiple larcenies in Sandusky and St. Clair County on Saturday afternoon. The first complaint in the Emmett area came early Saturday morning. The owner chased the suspect and gave a description to deputies. The sheriff’s department received four more calls while information was also received from the Sandusky Police Department regarding a stolen auto and numerous break-ins of autos in the Sandusky area Thursday and Friday.
It was believed that the same suspect was involved. Meanwhile, around 1pm on Saturday, deputies were alerted to a suspicious person in a gas station at Kinney Road and I-69. The suspect who was soaked head-to–toes from running through the woods, was arrested. Officers were also able to recover some of the suspected stolen property.
The homeless 41-year old man, was originally from Ohio, and is currently lodged in the St. Clair County jail on multiple breaking-and-entering charges. Sandusky police were expected to interview him on Sunday regarding their complaints.
The stolen auto was recovered Saturday in Sandusky.
