Police investigate fatal crash

(LAMOTTE TOWNSHIP) – One man was killed and another seriously injured while changing a tire along M-46 near Germania Road around 11:00pm Wednesday in Sanilac County’s Lamotte Township. According to the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office, a 33-year-old Sandusky man was traveling west on M-46 when he struck the two men.
Police say a third man was standing behind the vehicle and was not injured. The car with the flat had a defective driver’s side taillight and the emergency flashers were not activated when the accident occurred.
Deputies were unable to revive a 22-year-old Cass City man who was struck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 21-year-old Bad Axe man who was also struck was transported to Marlette Regional Hospital then later transferred to McLaren Lapeer Hospital for treatment. He is currently listed in stable condition.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the accident. Deputies are looking for a vehicle that was traveling east at the point of impact when the accident occurred.
