Like many other surrounding police agencies, the Caro police department is reporting a telephone scam. Authorities say that have been notified of numerous phone calls Tuesday from city residents. Police said residents are receiving calls from someone claiming to be with the IRS or other government agencies and demanding money. The callers will typically demand payment in the form of I-tunes or other prepaid cards, according to police. They remind the public: if you receive a call demanding payment in the form of a prepaid card, it is probably a scam.
