While two library issues passed in the Primary Election last week in Lapeer County, voters in the Lapeer District library region rejected a proposal to build a new facility by nearly 1,500 votes. Libraries that serve patrons in the Imlay City and North Branch Township area passes each received operating funding with the North Branch Township issue passing by just 60 votes. In Lapeer, a millage that would have generated over $12 million dollars for a new library was rejected, largely by surrounding community residents who are considered part of the Library District.
