A Marlette man and woman were killed in a head-on crash

(LAPEER COUNTY) – A couple from Marlette died Sunday after a vehicle crashed into their motorcycle head on, according to a statement from the Lapeer County Sheriff Department.

Rescue crews were dispatched to the crash on M-24 north of Mayfield Road in Mayfield Township shortly before 3:45 p.m. Sunday.

Brian Stamp, 53, and his girlfriend, Rhonda MaHaffy, 51, both of Marlette, were found deceased at the scene.

Officials said they had been southbound on a 2012 Harley Davidson when a northbound GMC Envoy crossed the centerline and into their lanes.

Stamp and MaHaffy were both wearing helmets and were ejected from the bike, according to police.

A 45-year-old North Branch man driving the Envoy was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

Toxicology is pending regarding the driver of the Envoy to determine if alcohol or drugs are a factor, according to the statement from the sheriff department.
