(SANILAC COUNTY) – A one-vehicle accident Sunday evening has claimed the life of a 38-year old Cass City man.
According to the Tuscola County Sheriff Department, deputies investigated a domestic assault complaint that occurred on E Deckerville Rd. in Novesta Township around 9 p.m.
The man left the residence before deputies arrived, traveling east on Deckerville Road when the vehicle left the roadway, struck a tree on Deckerville Road in Sanilac County and caught fire, resulting in the death of the man, according to investigators.
Deputies say alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the accident which remains under investigation.
Deputies were assisted by Michigan State Police, Cass City EMS and Cass City fire.
