(ELMER TOWNSHIP) – A 22-year old North Branch man sustained serious injuries after falling out of a moving vehicle late Saturday in Elmer Township.
According to the Sanilac County Sheriff Department, the victim was hanging out of a window around 7 p.m. when the vehicle turned onto Applegate Road from Juhl Road, causing him to fall to the roadway.
The 18-year old driver and a 23-year old passenger, both from Georgia, stopped the vehicle and picked the victim up, transporting him to Marlette Regional Hospital for treatment of injuries.
The victim was later transferred to Flint Hurley Hospital for further treatment. Names of those involved are being withheld pending further investigation, as alcohol and failure to wear seatbelts were factors in the incident.
