Port Sanilac man jailed after accident

(Sanilac Township) – A 36-year old Port Sanilac man has been lodged in the Sanilac County Jail, following a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Lakeshore Road and Custer Road Saturday afternoon.
According to the Sanilac County Sheriff Department, the Port Sanilac man was driving east on Custer when he allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign, driving into the path of a northbound pickup truck around 5:30 p.m.
The 63-year old truck driver from Westland was taken to McKenzie Hospital in Sandusky by Sanilac EMS for treatment of injuries. According to deputies, airbags deployed on both vehicles and all subjects involved were wearing seatbelts.
The Port Sanilac man was taken into custody for Operating While Intoxicated charges and lodged in jail. His name is being withheld pending arraignment.
Deputies were assisted on scene by the Port Sanilac Fire Department.
