The woman remained hospitalized in stable condition Wednesday afternoon and police continue to investigate the incident.

Around midnight Tuesday, deputies responded to the area of M-46 after several citizens had reported to 911 of a reckless driver travelling Eastbound on M-46. Callers reported the subject appeared to intentionally drive into their lane of travel forcing them to swerve. Deputies observed the same vehicle come into their lane and took evasive action. Further investigation led to the arrest of the 34-year old subject from Sebewaing for operating under the influence of drugs and possession of heroin. MSP assisted deputies at the scene.
(HURON COUNTY) – Huron County Sheriffs deputies investigated an accident last weekend after a 71-year old Bad Axe man’s car left the road west of Bad Axe. The accident occurred Saturday night around 7 p.m. on M-53, east of Thomas Road in Colfax Township. According to investigators, William Champagne was driving east on Thomas Road when he ran off the road, near McLaren Thumb Region Hospital. His Saturn Ion struck a mailbox and a utility pole, causing the car to rollover. Deputies say the driver was able to exit the vehicle and was not injured in the incident. A witness told officers that the vehicle gradually went off the road, supporting Champagne’s claims when he told deputies he may have had a diabetic, leading to the accident.

(LAPEER COUNTY) – A 30-year old man from Silverwood had his day in court earlier this week, hearing multiple firearm charges that have been field against him, including careless discharge of a firearm causing injury or death. Andrew Brill stood mute as he faced the charges and will be back in court next month. He has been held in the Lapeer County jail on a $10,000 dollar bond since the hunting incident last fall when he accidentally shot his best friend while unloading a 12 gauge shotgun. Brill, and two friends, were hunting squirrels in Lapeer County when after returning to their vehicles, Brill accidentally shot Michael Duby of Lake Orion in the groin while unloading his gun. Duby was treated at a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
